Dearly

THE BRIEF

Our team (Athena Rondeau, Matt Meerov, Pearl McNames and myself) was tasked with creating an app with a chosen audience, scenario and modifier. In our case, we chose a dating app for senior citizens that is friendly.

As young(er) people - some of us have first hand experience with dating apps, but we wanted to know how our experiences might be different for older generations.

After research (we made burner accounts on many dating apps), interviews, and much testing, we introduce our app: Dearly.

Problem

Throughout our research we found a few problems that we wanted to solve with our app.

1. Older people tend to want companionship - but not necessarily romantic relationships

2. Older people tend to not be as tech-savy as younger generations and often have people help them with technology

3. Older people struggle to make connections online because of technology struggles and concerns for privacy

4. Some older people don’t like to leave the house - either because of personal preference or disability

Solution

1. Offer a variety of ways for users to connect both romantically and platonically

2. Cultivate a variety of ways for users to find community and belonging

3. Create an interface that is easy to navigate

4. Create a space that welcomes all kinds of users
